South Australian Valencia harvest hits low..

This year's South Australian Valencia orange harvest is expected to be one of the lightest on record. The South Australian Crop Estimates Committee says the crop is expected to yield around 58,000 tonnes of fruit, which is down from last year's harvest of more than 78,000 tonnes.Committee chairman Kym Thiel says the low harvest is due to a range of factors. "There's a number of issues that have impacted on this upcoming crop frost," he said. "I guess there's been a significant drop in certain areas of the Riverland, fruit size once again is relatively small, there has been significant amount of tree removals over the last three to four years and, of course, water.
