British apple growers

The move is designed to support British apple growers whose crops have been damaged during the poor summer weather.
The retailer says some 30% of orchards across the country have so far been affected by extensive hailstorm damage.
Waitrose claims to sell a higher percentage of British apples than any other supermarket, with more than 70% of its apples home-grown during the season.
Waitrose fruit buyer Tom Richardson said: “Our British apples might not all look perfect this season, but we are confident the overall quality will be as good as ever.
Its British apples will be in store from 7 August this year – three weeks earlier than usual, due to the warm spring
